York city centre is surrounded by walls steeped in history. They are free to access all year round and no visit to York would be complete without a walk around them.
They total 3.4 kilometres and are the longest medieval town walls in England. Built mainly in the 13th century on top of earlier defences, they offer superb views across rooftops to the Minster.
Several of our apartments sit a short stroll from a wall access point — ideal for an early morning or sunset walk during your stay.
